Trauma Treatment

Healing Beyond the Memory

Trauma is not simply something that happened in the past. For many people, the effects of trauma can continue to be experienced in the present. You may know logically that you are safe, yet your heart races, your body tenses, emotions surface unexpectedly, or certain people, places, or situations leave you feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or on edge. This does not mean you are weak or “broken.” It means your brain and nervous system learned to protect you.

During a traumatic experience, the brain’s priority is survival—not reasoning. The amygdala, often referred to as the brain’s alarm center, plays an important role in processing emotional and sensory information associated with experiences of danger. While these survival responses can be essential during a crisis, they may continue long after the original event has ended. Years later, something as simple as a tone of voice, a smell, a facial expression, or a situation that resembles the original experience can activate a fight, flight, or freeze response. Even when you are safe in the present, your body may respond as though the danger is happening all over again.

Your body can remember what your mind has worked so hard to move beyond.

What Is STAR?

STAR (Steps to a Release) is a gentle process designed to help your brain recognize that a traumatic event is over. Rather than requiring you to repeatedly revisit or relive painful experiences, STAR works with the brain’s natural processes to help change the way the emotional response connected to those experiences is held. As the emotional intensity surrounding a memory begins to soften, your nervous system may no longer respond as though the past is your present.

The memory remains, but the emotional grip can begin to loosen.

Many people describe feeling lighter, calmer, more present, and more like themselves after releasing the survival response connected to past experiences.

A Different Approach to Healing

Trauma Release is different from traditional talk therapy. Rather than focusing primarily on talking through, analyzing, or repeatedly revisiting your experiences, this work focuses on the emotional and physical responses that may still be connected to those experiences.

You do not need to relive your trauma or share every detail of your story in order to begin this work.

STAR is an experiential approach that works with the connection between the mind, body, and nervous system, offering another pathway toward healing and helping you move forward without being defined by what happened in the past.

Disclaimer: Trauma Release is not intended to replace psychotherapy or other mental-health treatment when those services are needed. It can be used as a complementary approach to support an individual’s overall healing journey.

Reclaim Your True Self

One of trauma’s greatest losses is not only what happened—it is the identity we can unknowingly build around it. Without realizing it, we may begin living as the person who was hurt rather than the person we were always meant to be. Someone else’s choices may have happened years ago, yet those experiences can continue to influence our relationships, confidence, emotions, reactions, and ability to fully enjoy life.

Healing is about reclaiming your own story.

Imagine if those old triggers no longer controlled your reactions. Imagine remembering what happened without feeling as though you are experiencing it all over again. Imagine responding from a place of peace rather than survival. That is the intention of STAR. As the emotional response connected to past experiences begins to change, you may find more freedom to choose how you respond rather than being driven by old survival patterns.

Healing Through Connection

Trauma can affect more than our thoughts and emotions. It can influence the way we experience our bodies, respond to situations, connect with others, and move through everyday life. Trauma Release offers an opportunity to gently address the emotional and physical responses that may remain connected to past experiences. This work is individualized because every person’s experiences and responses to trauma are different. My goal is to provide a compassionate, supportive environment where you can feel safe enough to begin releasing what your mind and body may have been carrying.

You are not broken, and you do not need to be fixed.

You have already developed ways to survive and protect yourself. Trauma Release can provide an opportunity to move beyond those old survival responses and reconnect with a greater sense of peace, freedom, and yourself. Because you are not your trauma. You are not defined by what someone did to you. You are defined by the strength that carried you here—and by the person you choose to become from this moment forward.

“My role is to help you reconnect with the part of yourself that has always been whole, allowing your brain, body, and spirit to move toward healing in their own natural way.”
