My journey with Reiki began as a recipient, long before I ever imagined becoming a Reiki practitioner.
In 2022, I began receiving Reiki sessions as part of my own journey toward physical alignment. I was taken aback by how incredible this ancient form of hands-off energy healing was and by what I experienced during and after my sessions. There was something about the experience that felt both deeply calming and profoundly different from anything I had experienced before.
Then, one day, a friend unexpectedly reached out and asked me to join her at a Reiki training. What she didn’t know was that I had already been receiving Reiki sessions myself! I took her invitation as a sign from the Universe and knew I was meant to take the opportunity to learn this beautiful healing technique.
At the time, I was already studying other healing methods, and Reiki naturally became another tool in my healing toolbox. It made sense to me to add this practice to the work I was already doing with people who were seeking healing, balance, and a deeper connection with themselves.
Reiki is an ancient Japanese energy-healing practice centered around the concept of universal life-force energy. The belief behind Reiki is that this energy flows through all living things. When we experience stress, emotional experiences, or other challenges, we can sometimes feel disconnected, depleted, or simply “out of balance.”
Reiki offers an opportunity to pause and reconnect.
During a Reiki session, you remain fully clothed and comfortably relaxed, either lying on a massage table or sitting in a comfortable position. I work primarily hands-off, gently holding my hands above different areas of the body while allowing the Reiki energy to flow. I don’t believe Reiki is about forcing energy, fixing something that is “wrong,” or telling your body what it needs to do. Instead, I see Reiki as creating a space where your own energy can be acknowledged, supported, and brought back into greater balance.
The experience of Reiki can be different for everyone. Some people experience warmth, tingling, a feeling of lightness or heaviness, emotional release, or a deep sense of relaxation. Others may not notice any particular physical sensation at all, yet leave feeling calmer, more centered, or simply different than when they arrived.
There is no right or wrong way to experience Reiki.
My role is simply to provide a peaceful, supportive environment and allow you the space to slow down, quiet the outside world, and receive. What happens during a session is unique to each individual and may be exactly what you need in that moment. For me, Reiki is both a practice and a privilege. I know firsthand what it feels like to receive it, and I feel incredibly grateful to now be able to share this beautiful healing modality with others.
